StudentJob greatly values your privacy. This means that we treat any data about you confidentially, carefully and in accordance with the applicable privacy laws and regulations.
This privacy statement explains exactly how StudentJob handles the personal data of job seekers, customers and website visitors.
Who is responsible for the processing of your data?
StudentJob is responsible for the processing of your personal data. This means that StudentJob determines, taking into account applicable privacy legislation, what data we process about you, how this is done, for what purposes, and for how long. We process personal data by, among other things, storing them or sharing them with other parties. When we talk about StudentJob, we refer to YoungCapital International B.V. (CoC number: 34330199).
What personal data do we collect about job seekers?
Which personal data we process depends on the services and features used by you as a job seeker. Below you can find the data we may receive from you at different times.
Once you register with StudentJob, we receive the following data from you:
- name, address and location;
- date of birth;
- telephone number and e-mail address;
- curriculum vitae (CV) and cover letter (optional);
- data in your CV, such as professional experience and training (optional);
- photo or video (voluntarily uploaded, without consequences if you refuse. Potential employers can see your photo or video).
Once you start working for StudentJob, we receive the following data from you:
- copy of a valid identity document and citizen service number;
- bank account number;
- Certificate of Good Conduct (Dutch VOG, depending on the position);
- work permit (if necessary);
- other data for our personnel, salary and absenteeism records.
Why do we collect these personal data?
We collect these personal data to carry out our duties as job site and mediator. This means that StudentJob collects your personal data to:
- create an account on the website for you;
- offer you relevant jobs on our website;
- forward applications to the relevant employer;
- enable us to mediate in the application process for you;
- second you to an employer;
- conclude and implement agreements with you;
- conclude an employee-employer relationship with you;
- determine your availability;
- schedule you to work at an employer;
- carry out a screening (if necessary);
- keep relevant personnel, financial, hour, absenteeism and salary records;
- encourage your personal development by, for example, offering you courses, training and tests;
- assess whether you qualify for premium discounts or grants;
- send you information by e-mail, such as vacancy alerts, reports, newsletters and messages about events;
- comply with our reintegration obligations;
- fulfil our statutory obligations, for example, in case of an incapacity for work.
Why are we allowed to collect these personal data?
StudentJob may collect these data based on privacy legislation because:
- we have expressly requested your permission for this, in certain cases;
- this is necessary to implement an agreement we have concluded with you. For example, the employment agreement you conclude with us if you work through us, or if we want to introduce you to a potential employer;
- this is necessary to comply with statutory obligations. For example, because we as an employer are required to keep a copy of the identification documents of employees;
- this is necessary to protect a legitimate interest we may have. In this case, we will first consider whether our interests truly outweigh your interests in terms of privacy.
What are the purposes and principles of the processing of these personal data?

What data do we collect about partners?
We collect the following data about our partners:
- the company name;
- the address;
- the logo of the organisation;
- the details of the contact working for the organisation (first and last name, telephone number and e-mail address).
We collect these data to offer our services and features and to create a partner account. This account enables the organisation to post vacancies and process applications. The data are only used in the context of our services and for maintaining the professional relationship.
What personal data about website visitors do we process?
We collect data about you if you visit our website, such as:
- your IP address;
- your estimated location;
- the used Internet browser;
- your website behaviour (such as clicks, visited pages and searches).
We use these data to maintain and improve the website, and to make it more personal and relevant.
What rights do you have?
You have the right to:
- see which personal data we have about you;
- to change the data we have about you if they are incomplete or incorrect, for example;
- have us remove obsolete data about you if we no longer need these or may no longer keep them;
- have your data transferred by requesting a data package from us.

How can you access, change or remove your personal data?
There are two ways you can take action with respect to the personal data you have shared with us:
- Through your personal account: When you log in to StudentJob, you can change your data at any time under ‘Settings’. For example, you can ensure that you can no longer be found in our CV database, no longer want to receive any vacancy e-mails, or you can remove your profile.
- Through a vacancy e-mail: The vacancy mailing is an e-mail service as part of which we send you e-mails with vacancies (with your permission). You can unsubscribe from this email service directly using the link at the bottom of the e-mail or through the account settings.

How long will we keep your personal data?
We do not keep your data longer than necessary. We look at the purpose for which we requested the data. We also take the statutory retention periods into account. The Dutch Act on Payroll Taxes states that we, as an employer, must keep a copy of your identification document for a period of five years after the employment agreement is terminated. Our retention periods are listed in our internal retention periods policy. Your data will automatically be deleted or anonymised after expiry of the retention periods.
What do we do to protect your personal data?
We secure your personal information in a variety of ways to ensure they are and remain safe with us. We do this, for example, by limiting access to your personal data, by securing your account, by using secure communication channels, and by using system and network security. We have an internal security policy that sets out exactly what measures we take to protect your data. We also make agreements on proper security with parties that process your data for us.
With which third parties do we share your personal data?
StudentJob only shares your personal data with other parties if this is allowed based on applicable privacy legislation. These other parties are subsidiaries of YoungCapital Holding B.V. (only if this is necessary), partners looking for suitable candidates (temporary or permanent employees), and organisations you apply at through our online portal. But they also include parties such as trainers and coaches, government agencies (such as the UWV or Dutch Tax and Customs Administration), and professional partners (such as occupational health and safety services).
In order to implement our services, we are also assisted by parties that process our data about you on our behalf. An example is the supplier of the remuneration system we use to pay out once you start working through us. Or a program that helps us monitor the application process. We make agreements with these parties on proper security, confidentiality and your rights.
Do we share data with third parties outside the EU?
StudentJob can share your data with parties located outside the EU. We carefully select these parties. We ensure that there is a proper level of protection of personal data, comparable to that in the EU. We also make agreements with these parties on appropriate security measures to properly protect your personal data.
Do you disagree with the way in which we handle your personal data?
Contact us using the contact information below. What if we are unable to reach a solution? You will have the right to submit a complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP). The AP is the Dutch regulator who monitors compliance with privacy legislation.
