SB&A Credit Underwriter in Dublin

Job description

The Credit Underwriting Unit is part of Group Operations, and is responsible for the underwriting of credit applications that fall outside scoring for Consumer Lending, Credit Cards and Small Business & Agri, up to Total Group Exposure €500k. This is a key unit within the Group and partners Business Banking, Consumer Banking and Distribution in seeking to add quality assets to the Groups Balance Sheet while respecting capital, and ensuring risk /reward is optimised.

To facilitate the challenging Business growth agenda, we are looking for a highly motivated and energetic person with strong credit skills to join a team of highly skilled professionals. Reporting to the Underwriting Manager:

  • Ensure all credit applications are assessed and decisions given within agreed SLAs.
  • Carry a lending discretion and operate within that discretion
  • Assessment and presentation to Management of higher value applications
  • Support lending objectives within the parameters of acceptable credit risk and appropriate balance between credit quality and policy
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with all relevant stakeholders
  • Effective and efficient Workflow Management with continued drive to improve productivity and operational efficiency
  • Adherence to Credit Policy, Compliance, Audit requirements, and ensure continued focus on the Risk awareness agenda
  • Support overall business growth agenda with positive and helpful approach.
  • Respond to appeals and queries with empathy and professionalism.

Essential Qualifications:

Leaving Cert - 5 passes in 5 Leaving Cert Ordinary level subjects including Maths and English or equivalent qualification.

  • Be customer centric with strong attention to detail and delivering quality outputs
  • Excellent analytical and decision making skills with a proven ability to exercise a lending discretion
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work well as part of a successful team
  • Ability to work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines
  • Energy, flexibility, and total commitment to achieving the units overall objectives, with a willingness to contribute to special projects as required
  • Excellent problem handling and resolution skills
