Dell Bank International d.a.c. (DFS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Dell Technologies Inc. and is the captive finance arm of DellEMC Group. It is a licensed bank regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland. DFS provides leasing and financial services throughout EMEA and offers a full range of lifecycle management services including acquisition, management and disposition of IT equipment and software. DFS is a fast growing business and is focused on providing flexible and innovative financial solutions to customers of DellEMC Group in EMEA. DFS is recruiting a Legal Director in EMEA.

ROLE OVERVIEW

A highly motivated Legal Director of DFS is required with responsibility and oversight for all legal and regulatory matters for financial services in Europe Middle East Africa (EMEA), including contractual, regulatory, corporate governance, treasury, product development, data protection and litigation.

The Legal Director will report directly to Mark Mouritsen Senior VP, DFS International and will sit on the senior management team of DFS led by Cormac Costelloe, Managing Director. The Legal Director will lead the DFS legal team in EMEA and the Company Secretary.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advising the organisation on a broad range of legal, contractual and regulatory matters and providing strategic and risk savvy advice;
  • Advising on and participating in negotiation of corporate, commercial and treasury transactions on behalf of the organisation;
  • Participating in the definition and development of policies, procedures and programs;
  • Planning and supporting the organisation’s  strategy for dealing with regulatory bodies;
  • Overseeing and managing the selection, retention and management of all outside counsel and developing a strategy for contentious matters and regulatory proceedings;
  • Managing and developing a high performing legal team and at all times being an inspirational leader and developing a “lead by example” culture within the legal team and DFS organization;
  • Playing an integral wider role within DellEMC to ensure participation and collaboration within the wider DellEMC and legal department;
  • Managing the company secretary and ensuring excellent governance standards and Board planning, training and development;
  • Playing a full role in the senior management team and building strong relationships with other key control function, such as risk audit and compliance;
  • Timely reporting to the Legal VP globally, Senior Management team and the Board of Directors;
  • Developing and improving efficient and effective processes.

Required experience:

  • Excellent academic performance;
  • Qualified solicitor in Ireland, UK or equivalent in civil law jurisdiction;
  • Substantial commercial and legal leadership experience;
  • Experience dealing with legal and regulatory matters in the financial services sector;
  • Experience working on matters of corporate governance and with a board of directors or senior executive team;
  • Experience in providing cost-effective management of outside legal resources;
  • Ability to understand complex regulations and laws and to communicate effectively;
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills;
  • Strong commercial focus and business acumen required;
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and deliver results working to tight deadlines and showing good commercial judgment;
  • Travel required.
