Trainee Actuary in Dublin

Job description

We provide life assurance, pensions and investment solutions to individual and corporate customers.

Actuarial Services are a small team in the Actuarial & Finance area. We provide expert technical support and solutions to the wider New Ireland business and carry out a range of remediation, calculation and audit functions.

The successful candidate will delivera variety of quotation, recreationand technical calculations to our internal customers whilemanaging expectations of same and meeting Service Level Agreements. They will routinely need to distilcomplex concepts into simple terms and communicate these effectively to other functions. S/he willplay akey part in the helping toimprove the New Ireland/Bank of Ireland LifeCustomer Experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing expert technical and actuarial support to the business.
  • Perform non-standard life and pension calculations and projections.
  • Provide, or check, technical solutions to business issues.
  • Complete audit work in a timely manner.
  • Build relationships at key customer level to maximise customer engagement and long term value to our business.
  • Pursue innovation and efficiency improvement opportunities.

Essential Qualifications

Actuarial Graduate or Degree in Mathematical/Statistical discipline.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience within the life and pensions industry.
  • Good numerical ability and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability in problem solving and managing multiple tasks.

Desirable

- Experience in using Visual Basic to automate Excel calculations.

- An understanding of the external commercial and regulatory environment.
