Dell Financial Services – EMEA CIO

Career Level – Senior Director

Reporting To – DFS Global CIO

Background:

Dell has an established in house Financial Services business – Dell Financial Services (DFS/Dell Bank International d.a.c.)  within the Group to provide financial services support to its EMEA customers. Dell Bank International d.a.c. is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland. 

The Role:

The DFS EMEA CIO (“CIO”) is responsible for providing oversight and governance around technology platforms and solutions implemented in support of Dell Bank International d.a.c. trading as Dell Financial Services in EMEA. The CIO also acts as direct point of contact for the DFS EMEA Senior Management and Executive Leadership teams. The CIO will ensure delivery of the IT business plan and serves as primary advisor to the DFS EMEA business in matters of strategy, technology and innovation. They help ensures the perception of IT is one of added value to both internal and external customers.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Development of a strategic IT roadmap in support of DFS long-term business plans in EMEA, in coordination with the overall DFS strategic plan.
  • Development of IT budget for EMEA
  • Management and accountability for the ongoing availability and performance of DFS EMEA systems.
  • Supervision and enforcement of defined IT policies and procedures established for EMEA
  • Supervision and accountability for legal and regulatory compliance where there is IT system overlap. 
  • Development and supervision of an ongoing assessment framework for Service Provider performance. 
  • Ensure effective assessment of business automation needs, participation in Hoshin planning, roadmap project planning, & documentation creation for all road mapped IT projects
  • Establishment and supervision of SLA’s for development and operation of all relevant systems and infrastructure in support of DFS EMEA
  • Coordination of Service Provider shared services in support of the DFS EMEA operations
  • Prepares executive presentations and scorecards (operational metrics)
  • Ensure effective business continuity processes are established for relevant systems and infrastructure and are tested successfully in line with policy
  • Manages delivery model for specific global DFS domains, as assigned by DFS CIO level
  • Participates in EMEA CIO Council activities & drives effective collaboration and partnering cross regionally.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in information technology roles in a global corporate environment
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing custom software development and integration activities under a software development life cycle regime
  • Significant IT experience in the banking/financial services industry, including demonstrated experience with regulatory audit and compliance activities
  • Innovative thinking, strategic focus and proven track record of challenging the status quo
  • Proven track record in collaborating across organizational and cultural boundaries
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple layers of the organization (experience working with / supporting executives is crucial)

Preferred Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience, including roles in IT governance, software development management, program management, and application support
  • At least 5 years’ experience in management of offshore and remote IT teams
  • Demonstrated skills in governance
  • Strong program management skills
  • Development and management of strategic initiatives from visioning to tactical implementation
  • Finance experience (monthly project returns) and strong financial acumen
