Bank of Ireland are delighted to be hiring a Data Infrastructure Engineer to join our Group Data Analytics Office team!

This is a great opportunity to be at the forefront of enabling advanced analytics in Bank of Ireland. Driving EDW and Data Lake technical solutions to develop and deliver the data and analytics strategy for the Group Data Analytics Office, in a critical role interfacing to IT and Business stakeholders. This role will expose the successful candidate to market leaders in the data, technology and analytics space!

Who are We

The successful candidate will be part of the Group Data Infrastructure team, which is the technical pillar of the GDAO team responsible for the architecture and delivery of the EDW and analytical platforms, Business Data Model and Integrated Data Model. The team works closely with the GDAO Analytics team and strategic change projects to ensure valuable and accurate use and reuse of the EDW.

What is the opportunity

This is a Group role pivotal to the technical solution delivery leveraging the core strategic data asset, its underlying technology and realising the value of our Enterprise Data Warehouse.

You will be responsible for the management, stability, performance and scalability of the GDAO Enterprise Data Warehouse to deliver accurate and trusted data, enable data discovery, advanced analytics and integration with big data.

Working closely with the broader GDAO team ensure Data Management, Advanced Analytics and Data Governance strategic objectives can be met through the GDAO data infrastructure.

Taking Business ownership of the EDW end to end batching process and driving excellence.

Key Accountabilities

EDW batch - business ownership

Define, develop and embed EDW Database standards, standard methodology and controls.

Leverage the latest capabilities from an evolving technology stack.

Analyse opportunities to drive and protect platform performance.

Guide Teradata DBA's on capacity management and planning.

Vendor Governance (HCL & Teradata) -Drive weekly and monthly governance calls for batch stability, issue resolution and consistent performance, ensuring batch completion within agreed SLA.

Ensure ongoing ITSCM data integrity and drive stability / enhancements through Data Mover and BAR.

Review and sign off Dev and Test solution proposals.

Manage UAM through the appropriate roles and profiles.

Coordinate recurring and emergency software patching with IT@BOI and platform vendors.

Who are You

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or related.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in similar Data roles is essential.
  • Excellent Teradata product knowledge and skills. Exposure to Tableau, Informatica, Hadoop.
  • Platform Management experience. Teradata TASM, Viewpoint, BAR, Data Mover, QueryGrid.
  • Proven track record implementing enterprise data infrastructure programs working with multiple partners and project delivery teams.
  • Adaptable, bias for action, result driven and focused on execution excellence.
  • Enterprise data solution design and delivery.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Data capture, Data Warehousing and Big Data / Analytics tools e.g. Informatica, Teradata, Oracle, Tableau, Hadoop, SAS.
  • Report Design / Dashboard / Visualisation.
  • Adaptable, bias for action, result driven and focused on execution excellence.
