About us.

The Infrastructure Operations Team role is to "Enable the Service" through driving our partners in providing the Bank with the Technology required to run the business, securing the Customers and Banks data, improving stability and remaining current in order to provide a premier service.

What's the role

The Infrastructure Operations VDI Specialist will coordinate the efforts of Bank and vendor technical teams to lead the service delivery and maintenance of the Virtual desktop Infrastructure.

This is an operational role working with our key service providers.

To fulfil this role, there is a requirement to have good experience of working within a multi-vendors environment. This is to give assurances that services are being delivered effectively to safeguard the business and improve the stability and delivery of this core service.

In addition to the ongoing operational responsibilities the holder of this role must also seek to plan effectively and optimize live operations to maximise quality and minimise risk. These responsibilities will require extensive stakeholder and vendor management skills to effectively influence others as well as inspire change within the holder's direct area of responsibility.

Key Accountabilities

To Implement and run the BAU activities for VDI estate through daily operational checks, support and help to implement new VDI requests to enable more staff to work remotely.

You will ensure strong Governance with the vendor service delivery team and key customer partners, by effectively raising issues where necessary to Infrastructure Operations / Technology Services leadership to ensure that quality standards are delivered and drive continual improvement across both Bank and vendor teams to ensure ongoing optimisation of performance of services.

You are responsible to maintain & monitor standards, controls, processes and solutions, to minimise business and IT risk, and drive through identified Risks to closure including reporting of progress against each Risk assigned within your area of responsibility.

Ensure full compliance with all Group, Legal and Regulatory requirements and standards, with full involvement during Internal / External Audit cycle that are carried out periodically relating to Infrastructure, and support remediation of Audit Actions working closely with Internal teams as required.

This job can be done anywhere in Republic of Ireland with the primary office location as Dublin to which travel will be required for in person collaboration. Exact frequency to be agreed with manager.

  • Solid understanding of VDI as a service using VMware
  • Ideally strong knowledge of the current VDI estate and the transformation activities currently underway
  • Good understanding of working in a multi-vendor led service environment

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Strong virtualisation skills (VMware, Hyper V, Citrix) plus strong knowledge of Windows and Linux Servers
  • Exposure to Openstack tooling (VIO/NSX/vROPS/vRNI/etc...)
  • Knowledge of key OpenStack components such as: (Neutron, Nova, Glance...)
  • Knowledge of SAN Storage solutions (PureStorage, IBM SVC and XIV, Flash...)
  • Excellent oral, written, verbal and technical/business communications skills
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts: DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, Routing, VLAN, PXE, TFTP
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools such as ELK, vROPS, ServiceNow
  • CMDB management
