Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare month end management accounts for Head office entities

  • Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Co-ordinate intercompany cross charges with the acquisition companies and issue instructions on the accounting entries that need to be made
  • Prepare journal checklist and ensure that it is saved together with journals and relevant backup
  • Complete statutory reviews for International entities.  This includes reviewing the statutory reconciliations and ensuring that all entries are reasonable, ensuring that the notes and any other details given in the accounts are reasonable to publish and giving the directors comfort that a satisfactory review has been performed before they sign the accounts
  • Setup the mass allocations journals as required for EMEA entities
  • Provide assistance to the tax, Treasury and other Finance Departments as requested including projects across International entities

Essential Requirements

  • Good understanding of advanced accounting principles, concepts, theories, technologies and standards of professional field
  • Strong working knowledge and demonstrated ability utilizing multiple systems, tools and procedures to accomplish job
  • Ability to build deeper understanding of processes, procedures, customers and organization
  • Strong knowledge of systems and automation tools (including Excel and Access, etc
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 6-8 years’ experience in accounting or audit Fluent in English, self-starter, learns quickly, and attention to detail

This position forms part of the Ireland and International Accounting Group, in the EMEA Accounting & Compliance Group in Dell. The Ireland and International Accounting Group plays a key role in supporting the worldwide consolidation process. This challenging role will require constant interaction with the Finance Department in various International Entities, US Finance and Consolidations Group, Tax Department, Treasury and Legal Department, Internal and External Audit and other relevant groups. The role is based in the Dell offices in CityGate, Mahon in Cork.    

The Role

The position will involve the following;

Month and Quarter End Accounting

  • Prepare month end management accounts for Head office entities including booking of journals, running of revaluation
  • Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare journal checklist and ensure that it is saved together with journals and relevant backup
  • Complete TB reviews for relevant entities at quarter end
  • Complete operational P&L and Balance Sheet reviews once a quarter

Month End Consolidation work

  • Complete month end checks on International entities to ensure that there are no issues before entities are consolidated
  • Liaise with International entities with any issues that arise on consolidation and provide assistance to have them resolved

 Compliance

  • Complete statutory accounts for Head office entities.  Liaise with auditors on the audit of these entities.
  • Work with outside service provider to prepare and file tax returns for Head office entities
  • Complete CSO, VIES and VAT Returns for Irish operating entity
  • Prepare quarterly tax packages

General System work

  • Approve requests for access to GL for International
  • Setup the mass allocations journals as required for EMEA entities
  • Close the GL Period each month for all International entities
  • Provide guidance to International finance teams on revaluation issues

Project Work

  • Provide assistance to the Tax, Treasury and other Finance Departments as requested including projects across International entities

The Person

  • Fully qualified accountant
  • Have a strong financial and technical accounting background
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Be highly motivated and display an ability to work well on own initiative
  • Have an ability to work to tight deadlines 
  • Have good working knowledge of financial systems/computer literate
  • Be Flexible
