When you’re working in the fast-moving world of technology, product availability is critical – which makes the availability of raw materials for production critical too. Our Material Planning team provides a controlled flow of materials to meet production requirements. We produce detailed schedules, adapting them if necessary to meet backlogs or material shortages, as well as material requirement lists and production plans that balance the demand and supply position of platforms and commodities to optimize product availability and cost. We’re experts at resolving problems with inventory, production schedules or material shortages and recommending procedures to avoid future problems.
Key Responsibilities
Operational planning for EMC Field Replaceable Units (FRU’s). Setting of appropriate stock levels throughout a network of field warehouses. Manage the replenishment of these warehouses on a daily basis to ensure adequate support to EMC customers and partners. Maintain availability of field spares at or above 98.5%.
Strategic Planning & Forecasting of relevant products needed to support EMC install base. Develop quarterly forecasts based on demand trends, install base growth and agreed stocking strategy of each service spare item.
Negotiation of procurable and repair requirements with suppliers and subsequent management of incoming shipments through the fiscal quarter.
Escalation Management. Resolve escalations for parts availability. Participate in 24x7 On Call service for Customer Service.
Manage the execution of Field Change Orders for the proactive replacement of FRU’s.
Interact with USA Logistics, Third Party Warehouse Providers, Field Service Tech teams, Engineering, Product Management, Repair Vendors, Internal and External Manufacturing.
Essential Requirements
Experience in an Inventory Planning & Forecasting role.
The successful candidate will have shown a strong level of PC computer skills and experienced in using MS Office type tools.
Experience in the Service Spares function in the electronics industry will be an advantage.
Experience in the optimization of planning parameters on a service spares management system such as PTC Servigistics will be a distinct advantage.
A strong sense of urgency is required for this position.
