Bank of Ireland are currently hiring for a data analyst to support the implementation of the Bank`s BCBS 239 programme. BCBS 239 is the Basel Committee`s regulation related to effective risk data aggregation and risk reporting

This role will involve documenting data lineage processes across various key reporting metrics.

The core deliverables of this role will be executed across the Bank as part of the BCBS 239 programme. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic with a willingness to develop their skill set throughout the project.

Training will be provided with respect to documenting data lineage processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with various Business units and the IT function to understand and trace data lineage for key reporting metrics back to their source. This includes understanding underlying process, data transformations, controls and uses of the data through its lifecycle.
  • Document, in line with an agreed BCBS 239 standard, and make recommendations for process and system improvements as part of fully documenting end to end data lineage processes;
  • Working with colleagues across IT@BOI, Finance and Risk to ensure effective collaboration, communication and development of data lineage solutions
  • Be able to understand issues and help articulate root cause issues in current reporting and/or business process;
  • Work closely with internal business teams on data driven system implementations;
  • Responsible for escalating risk and issues timely for resolution, in accordance with internal standards
  • Undertake other Project and Reporting duties that may arise from time to time. There will be an opportunity to learn fundamental organisation design and data management principals while undertaking the role, the individual therefore needs to be keen to expand their existing skill set and take on challenges.

Essential Qualifications

Hold a relevant third- level qualification, ideally within Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics or IT.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Be able to document system, data and process flows
  • Be able to work under pressure and learn quickly;
  • Use good commercial judgement in reviewing as is process;
  • Have an analytical mind-set which can be applied to different problems and be open to challenges and learning;
  • Previous operational experience working in a Banking environment or a heavily regulated industry;
  • Ability to use Viso or other tools for documenting process/data/systems;
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement capabilities
