GIA seeks to positively influence risk management standards, ensure identification and remediation of issues and sharing of lessons learned for the on-going benefit of the Group and its key stakeholders.

The role of GIA is to understand the Group`s key risks and to examine and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the systems of risk management and internal control, as operated by the Group, in order to provide reasonable assurance to stakeholders that the Group`s key risks are being appropriately and effectively managed.

Purpose of the Role:

We are looking for someone who is passionate about Data Analytics. Our Internal Audit (IA) function plays an important part in our business. Our vision is to help the bank deliver on its strategy to enable our Customers, Colleagues and Communities to thrive. The role as the Data Analytics (DA) lead within IA is to act as a specialist to develop and deliver the DA approach for us, working collaboratively with a network of data analysts from across the Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for acquiring, analysing and leveraging data to support GIA`s assurance programme and auditing activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the GIA data analytics strategy which support GIA`s approach to continuous monitoring and risk assessment through the use of data analytics
  • Lead, motivate, coach and develop the team ensuring that a positive and supportive culture is in place
  • Develop, implement and maintain GIA`s audit methodology for data analytics;
  • Work with audit teams within GIA and stakeholders across the BOI Group to identify opportunities for use of data analytics
  • Perform data led audits where large volumes of data are assessed;
  • Document and clearly articulate outcomes of data analytics testing through creation of data dashboards, graphs and visualisations;
  • Develop GIAs capability to mine and analyse large datasets, draw valid inferences and present them successfully to management.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must be educated to a degree level (Level 8 on National Framework of Qualifications).

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven ability to build and lead a strong data analytics team to support business goals
  • Experienced in using data as the vehicle to increase breadth and depth of coverage, efficiency and the targeting of adverse trends during audits
  • Developed the capability to continuously monitor key controls and undertake regular, repetitive data analysis of organisational activities
  • Engages with external advisors and sources to develop and keep abreast of DA and industry best practices
  • Proficient in developing and running SQL scripts and Knowledge of other tools such as SAS and Tableau.
  • Proven experience in a busy office environment with an ability to perform well under pressure handling competing workloads and managing complexity of work;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to interact professionally with all levels across the Group;
  • High level of discretion, capable of dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information;
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to work on own initiative;
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy; and
  • Strong team ethic and flexible approach in order to meet challenging objectives and deadlines.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Third Level qualification, in mathematics, statistics, finance, IT or another discipline including a significant numerical element.
