Description of business unit

The Independent Validation Unit within Risk Assurance is responsible for the independent validation of defined risk models with particular emphasis on IRB, IFRS 9 and Stress Testing models. The vacancies arise in the team to support the increased validation requirements over non-IRB models under the Group`s Model Risk Policy and Standards.

Purpose of the Role

Managing analysts in reviewing and challenging modelling approaches to determine suitability for the Group, through use of quantitative analysis, exploring alternative approaches and independent research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Using analytical skills to address business and regulatory risk measurement issues.
  • Remaining up to date on developments in credit risk modelling techniques, stress testing, validation and associated regulation.
  • Developing an environment which encourages and rewards innovation and development
  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative impact assessment of new regulatory requirements, such as new or revised Regulatory Technical Standards.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with the area`s internal stakeholders, this includes: model owners and developers, the Independent Validation Unit; and the other teams within Group Risk.
  • Supporting cross team analysis activities and working collaboratively with others

Essential Qualifications

Strong academic background with a good primary degree and/or an appropriate professional qualification, in a strongly quantitative discipline (e.g. mathematics, statistics).

Strong quantitative skills

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Strong analytical, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • -Experience in data analysis techniques and software (e.g.SAS).
  • -High level of resilience, energy and execution ability.
